英語で道を聞く

「道」は「未知」に通じます。道を歩むことは、未知なるモノと遭遇する楽しみがあります。
私は、未知の世界の「道」に足を踏み入れ、歩んでいるとき、いつもそう思うのです。


英語で道を聞く：

どこかの会社を初めて訪問するとき、国内や外国を旅行をするとき、
目的地へ行く道が不確かなことが良くあります。地図や、GPSや、Web map は大いに役立ちますが、
人に聞いて確かめることも結構あるものです。何事につけ、何かあることをしようとする場合
何らかの「ガイド」があると助かるものです。「ガイド」は、目的成就の「ヘルプ」となります。

パソコンやカメラやクルマなどを購入し、それを始めて使う場合にも、的確な説明があると
使用目的を確実に達することが出来ます。

ここでは、「ガイド」、「ヘルプ」、「案内」などに関する表現をあつめて見ました。

会社訪問などでの、受け付嬢による部屋の案内です
    簡潔に、ピシピシ表現することが大切です。

Take the elevator to the 7th floor.
When you came out of the elevator, then turn left. 
Go down the corridor (hallway も可）.
You can find toilet on the left hand side.
You should pass the toilet.
It's the 5th door on the right.


或る米国製の使い捨てカメラに書いてあった注意書きです

Take a picture with the light behind you and make sure you are at least 4 feet from the subject.

Use flash indoors and outdoors if light is low. 
Take flash pictures at least 4 feet and no more than 15 feet from the subject.
To charge the flash, slide flash switch in the direction of the arrow and hold until the ready light goes on.

Wind the film advance wheel before each picture until the film stops.
After the last picture, wind wheel until 0 appearts on the counter.
